What a bizarre critique. The special was funny;  like, really fucking funny. He revealed as much as he needed to in order to make the jokes work. Not every special needs to be doing some sort of Hannah Gadsby style confession.

Agreed.  And both definitely have their place.  Personally, when it comes to gore, I prefer something like Martyrs, where the gore is servicing a story with a point, not just for it’s own sake.

Everybody’s got their own personal thresholds for when gore crosses over from campy horror into “fucked up shit” the same way everybody has a different sense of humor, you can’t begrudge them for thinking Terrifier crosses that threshold.
