I was excited, then I read this. Considering Simple just notified me I was already breaking their ToS by linking my and my GF's brick-and-mortar accts to the same Simple acct, I won't even bother with this (and Simple has yet to setup joint accts).

But the whole thing is it CAN'T be used as a backup service. Specifically, you say you have lots of files you'd want to store in DB but not on your laptop, but that's not possible since if you delete it from your laptop it's deleted from Dropbox. There's no way to upload files for archiving without having them locally…
yeah but you don't have to count with that stupid tortured sneer on your face, so it's a lot better.
That's less than a 7% tip. You suck.
Your initial statement said "the shoe sucks." This has nothing to do with a manufacturer's defect or a warranty and no manufacturer would provide you with an RMA just because their product "sucks."
Um, no. If you buy a Nike shoe and you want to return it, you go to the vendor from which you bought it, because that's who you gave your money to.
This looks pretty great, interesting alternative to Volumio's more hardcore audiophile approach.
I never said I wanted to *stream* local media, I said that's what's necessary to play local media using a FireTV, GoogleTV, or Apple TV. However, these player's hardware is fully capable of *playing* local media if you, yes, plug in an external HDD or have NAS, but this ability is prevented via software. Look further…
I know a TV is not a computer. However the Fire, Google TV, Roku etc. are, and are perfectly capable of playing local media, except they're locked down via software to prevent this. When I say "second machine" I mean a second computer, as in you need a server PLUS a set-top box to have local media playing on your TV.
Read the thread, dude, I'm already using a Raspberry pi as an HTPC with RaspBMC. It's great, but not having Netflix or Hulu on it as well can be a bummer when you don't have a specific movie and all your friends are used to the immediacy of streaming.
Yes but all those solutions require running a second machine serving the media. I don't wanna have to have my MacBookPro running just to stream some media to my TV, nor do I feel the need to shell out for another device just so my first one can play downloaded media it's physically capable of playing. It's frustrating…
The fact that NONE of these set top boxes plays local media without some kind of hack is such an epic fail. Deeper integration would be nice, but until I can actually play my terabytes of downloaded media out of the box I'll be sticking with my Raspberry pi/RaspBMC thankyouverymuch.
As she says in the tweet, and if you really look at the picture, this was done with two pieces of coiled cable, like the kind from hand held phones, not beads. If you did this with regular plastic beads you'd need to remove each of the ear buds somehow.
Beads!
This is the same technique you can use to open a beer bottle with anything that can withstand the force without breaking or bending - the back of a folding knife, empty ammunition shells, a dowel, baby food jar lid, folded up dollar bill, and of course the college standard, a cigarette lighter.
The occupation itself may not require a degree, however my employer did. They even said so on the job posting.
So are you saying that I could have gotten my current job in IT/customer support without a bachelor's degree in Philosophy? Because the fact that every single one of my coworkers also has a meaningless Bachelor's degree begs to differ.
THIS! I've been a regular allergy sufferer for as long as I can remember, and used every OTC solution as well as a couple prescription products, none of which seemed to work consistently - even if something like Claratin worked, its efficacy seemed to drop off after a couple weeks.
Spotlight has done calculations for a while now, I use it all the time.
F.lux vs G.lux...
