If the tv is connected to the internet it can track you even if you’re using an external device via ACR technology. If you keep the tv offline you will be fine.

It does not use LCD tech at all. It’s an OLED panel that uses quantum dots for color conversion. Also, it’s RGB whereas LG uses a WOLED panel.
I’m confused as to how that is what you took away from this article. These will be fabulous for watching pretty much anything.
mini-LED is a backlight-on-steroids technology for LCD based televisions. The backlight is made up of multiple thousands of very small LED’s grouped together in clusters (“zones”) that can be brightened/dimmed independently of each other. This light is directed through red, green, and blue filters to produce their…
The controller switching thing is interesting if it works correctly (I have a Brook adapter that lets me do this but it has some limitations), but unfortunately the 4K/60 thing makes this DOA for me.
I’m OK with this. I don’t mind paying a premium for things as long as it delivers.
I’m all for brighter OLED panels and I believe I read somewhere that LG is stating a 30% increase, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
I meant exactly what I said. Atmos (in most circumstances) and DV (in all circumstances) does not require 2.1 ports. Your Shield does not do 4K/120 nor can it handle VRR. It can do 1080p/120 and 1440p/120, but you could do that on HDMI 2.0 as well.
Hard to say. Sony hasn’t had a great track record with this over the last few years.
It could be a bit of a challenge to use the C1 in a really bright room, but if you have some basic control over the lighting situation it ticks all of the boxes.
They both received updates that enable ALLM and HDR auto tone mapping. The X85J (and last year’s X900H) additionally received an update enabling VRR.
Sort of. The hardware is there, but in the case of the X85J there are some performance issues around the HDMI 2.1 features and unless things have changed very recently the full feature set isn’t yet enabled on the X90J. In theory this will be fixed via a future firmware update.
This comment is especially amusing given that DV doesn’t require an HDMI 2.1 port and never has. Atmos also doesn’t require an HDMI 2.1 connection unless you are doing uncompressed Atmos from the likes of a 4K bluray, and even that feature (eARC) was backported to HDMI 2.0 by most manufacturers.
You were the one complaining about wasted space making the image smaller in one of your earlier posts. I was just being a wiseass, but whatevs.
I was going to reply but as I expanded the comments I see there is no need. You have explained this much more concisely than I would have. Kudos!
You’re of course correct...you could indeed see your kill count. It was just everything else that was broken.
You clearly don't remember the BF4 launch debacle.
Using an Nvidia Shield and simply foregoing the built in apps isn’t enough, you have to keep the tv off the internet.
THERE IS NO NEED FOR RUDENESS, SAI AXETWIN OF KOTAKU.
Why are you so focused on the fact that Sony relies on LG panels? It’s irrelevant...neither LG or Sony are going anywhere anytime soon.
