Not allowed freedom of expression of their culture? Lol, you don’t need permission! I assume you actually mean financial compensation and the adoration of fans from all cultures that comes with being a successful artist that you claim is only reserved for white people. Sorry, there’s no guarantee of that! This topic…
Creativity and freedom of expression trumps cultural appropriation. If you don’t like it, don’t read it, see it, listen to it, etc. but don’t you DARE tell someone what they can and can’t do with their own mind, thoughts, etc. You are NOT the thought police. This isn’t 1984. You don’t own anyone. You don’t get to…
I’m not joking about that. If he had used more euphemistic language, avoided the words (which was practically guaranteed to generate an inflammatory response), the reaction to the editorial would have been far more muted.
Nobody would have given a shit if he hadn’t use the magic words “ cultural appropriation” to describe it.
You know how it’s every person’s prerogative to care about unimportant things even though important things are also happening in the world? I’m using the inverse of that prerogative to not care about cultural appropriation. I promise, that any moment I can afford to worrying about things outside my personal concerns…
Saying that health care is a right, but sharing the burden of that right is a privilege, is a contradiction
My favorite part of the interview: When you say, ‘freak out,’ what does that mean?
Seriously? This season has been amazing.
This show has been getting better and better. This is, episode for episode, probably my favorite and the most consistently enjoyable season. They’ve got a lot to cover in what might be an over-stuffed finale, but this has been some great stuff.
This season has been amazing.
Agents of SHIELD, season 5, baby! YES!
I bet you’re fun at parties.
Wyatt Cenac had a very public falling out with Jon Stewart. He cursed him out in front of the entire staff of TDS. I’m not sure why you think Stewart would host a former employee who left that way. Plus, he wasn’t around in the era of Colbert/Carrell, who left the show in 2005. Cenac didn’t start until 2008.
Speakers should be paid. HOWEVER if a school is receiving government funds, then they need to think about education and paying celebrities in excess doesn’t facilitate that. Neither does college sports. If your school is staffed with satisfied, well paid, educated professors that are producing the next generation of…
They are not regulating how much a person can earn from a speech. They are regulating how much state schools can pay speakers. There is a huge difference between the two. People can still solicit fees as high as they are able to get for their speeches from other venues / organizations.
No, it’s actually consistent with conservative principles. Private individuals can make as much money as they want from private corporations, but government spending should be limited.
How so? As long as they require detention they seem to be side stepping the largest issue that the Arizona law had with it’s fight to remain legal. I could be wrong of course, I’m not an expert.
I guess they made the decision that having a dead kid is easier to deal with than an autistic one, which is what this anti-vax bullshit boils down to. Really shows that some people are incredibly shitty parents if they fall for these blatant lies and scams.
