I wonder why Mercedes-Benz decided not to stick with its new nomenclature rules, which would have seen this badged as the CLE-Class (as it’s a derivative of the E, not the S).

For what they are charging, I can’t believe they couldn’t come up with a better solution than plastic in a fake vent.

das Gegenteil dieses Motors

Cabover layout would also be a lot better in an electric compared with a gas/diesel, with the dramatically reduced maintenance requirements on the motors. Who cares if it’s annoying to get to the motors if it never requires belt changes, or fluid changes, and so on.

I would even take a stock Up! What a stupid name, but I still like it. Why don’t VW sell them in the US?

Honestly, I’m hoping they keep that design, but scale it down until it has a normal 6' bed.

For those not speaking German, the plan is to covert it to quattro as well. It’ll basically be a 500hp Up! Quattro once done. :D

How am i supposed to get that refund if said product fails?

Tesla should license that armor glass to Apple and Samsung for use in smartphones.

Because the grip of the tires on the road are the limiting factor in an emergency stop. There’s pretty much nothing on the road that can’t lock up the wheels if you mash the brake pedal at highway speed.

I’m curious as well. When it’s actually on the ‘ring the 4 cylindrical sensors are illuminating and pointing at each wheel. Combined with the the weird hub attachments, they’re probably high speed cameras. It seems like an odd way to get data on wheel spin or suspension flex though - that’s usually acquired directly.

I know right? Who wants all that power and proven reliability in an exotic? If it isn’t always in the shop, you didn’t pay enough for it.

The EcoBoost engine is probably lightweight and 400 HP is more than enough for this thing to haul ass, as the 0-60 time implies. This isn’t “cost cutting”, it’s a smart engineering decision.

Agreed. While I think that children should be allowed to take some risks as part of growing up, a dragster is just too much for kids.

This is very, very sad. Still though, who lets an 8 year old drive a dragster?! My friend’s daughter is 9, and she’s just a little baby. She loves playing outside and using her imagination. She’s nowhere near ready for the responsibility of a dragster.

Hell, I’ve been here for nearly ten years.

They start going up as soon as the suspension does, but they can’t close as quickly as the car lifts or anything obstructing them would probably be severed. The windows continue to close to protect occupants from dangers outside the vehicle during and after the collision (shrapnel, fire etc.).

Not sure that it really adds weight if it already has dynamic suspension. This is a few extra sensors and software.

The problem with Japan isn’t quality but that it’s rampant with white collar crime like this. It wasn’t long ago that major Japanese OEMs were busted for price-fixing including Denso, NGK, and Mitsubishi. We have all heard about Takata and their airbags. Even the car makers themselves were involved in scandals with
