I worked for Louis Vuitton and was offered the same thing. My fee for photography was around $1500 and they ‘paid’ me with a bag that was the same value - not even a penny off the retail store price!

I can tell you from experience in the industry that it’s not just models: for many fashion shoots, models, makeup artists and photographers are not paid a penny, all in the name of ‘experience’ and ‘building their books.’
