Is this a California thing? I grew up near the Mexican border in Texas and I've never heard of this. There are cubed fried potatoes in breakfast tacos and stuff but this sounds like mashed potatoes in a crispy taco shell?

Yeah… I don't think anyone double-checked that YouTube video.

Don't forget the CSIs! My mom loves CSI: Cyber.

Wait. Is your mom my mom because this is an eerily similar description of everything she watches. How does your mom feel about Hawaii 5-O?

Yeah, I actually thought this episode was really funny. I was kinda surprised by the review saying it was a misstep.

Hey man my mom loves Hawaii 5-O

Nah, that actor was terrible. It practically ruined the episode for me. It was especially jarring cause everyone else in the show is really natural and her lines were VERY wooden.

If you like classic haunted house/jump scare horror, it's pretty effective and fun.

I'm reading that right now too! I think all his books are pretty damn good, and very readable.

I've only lived in Texas and Louisiana so I am familiar. Things are usually a little more pleasant by November though, maybe slipped down from a heat index in the 100s to the 70s and 80s. It's as much fall as we get.

Fun Fun Fun Fest is a great festival but isn't this summer festivals…? I know Austin is cool and all but you could have done Press Fest in Houston. It's in June. Even ACL Fest is at least kinda closer to summer.

Yeah they coulda done Press Fest in Houston, which is in June and a pretty good time.

I saw them on their reunion tour a year or two ago. The music was so loud I don't know if you could have heard anyone singing along, but it was nice to be in a room of people obviously so happy to be there and into the music. Like you said, a very communal experience. Of course, I'm one of the later bandwagon fans who

NES Barbie game. It is super anti-feminist and retrograde. It revolved around finding an outfit for your date with Ken and the levels were mostly set in stores and a mall. It was atrociously hard to play. But I kind of love how terrible it was.

I don't have kids. I enjoyed it. Maybe, like many things! it's personal taste.

The book is almost exactly the same, except more detailed. It's written entirely from the perspective of Jack. They just spend a lot more time in both room and the outside world first establishing the world of room and then picking up the pieces after it is gone. I thought it was an interesting way to tell a somewhat

Same here. Linda Belcher is my mom. Busybody with random burst of singing, unflagging optimism and a love of wine.

Aw. My dad isn't anything like Steve Zissou, but I always think of him when I watch that movie because he's a marine biologist and I took him to see it when I was a 20-something Wes Anderson obsessive and it made him cry. He bought everyone in his marine lab little red beanies for Halloween the next year.

My dad has a great 1970s mustache and a bald spot my mom is an unflaggingly positive lady who loves wine and turns everything into a song. Bob's Burgers has always been my jam.

They definitely appeal to a certain kind of neurotic person. You can spend an infuriating amount of time micromanaging character's lives, decorating their homes, controlling their actions (or in the case of Animal Crossing) chasing detailed and difficult to complete collections.
