Chances are, the statement was subjectively offensive, and going to HR will make YOU look like a troublemaker.

I didnt see any mention of heading to your safe zone after taking offense. I believe there are tissues there to wipe away your tears.
This can not get enough stars. People don’t learn this until they’re let down a couple of times by HR. The HR rep isn’t your union rep. They’re there to make sure the employer isn’t sued and to ensure your benefits are as cheap as possible for the company.
How about you don’t let words have such an impact on yourself? There are clear rules about sexual harassment, racial, and other topics in the workplace, but if someone says something that bothers you that doesn’t fall into those rules, most of the time there is nothing you can do about it. So just move on. Not hard…
Or you could just ignore it and go on about your day. I got scolded for talking about firearms in my break room one time. I was talking about hunting rifles with a Marine. I was told I cannot talk about firearms in a Credit Union break room. I said OK, then that very day had more discussions about firearms. Free…
That’s because HR is not there for the employees, only for the employer. As long as the situation in question won’t result in the employer getting their ass sued off, then they don’t give a shit. HR is not, and never will be your friend.
This might be the best approach, and is essentially “handle your own shit.”
Guess what? Doesn’t work for us white guys either. HR just doesn’t work.
I mean, if it is something that is clearly illegal, like insulting someone because of their gender or race, that might work. On the other hand, if it is something else, it might be protected speech. For instance, in California, political views are protected at work so there is not much HR can do to prevent a…
Here’s a wild idea. Grow up
The article was about how to be diplomatic, not how to burn bridges
I once called my boss a horse’s ass. I don’t remember why, but today I will readily admit it was not a nice thing to say about horses. Anyway, he tattled to his boss who told me in front of my boss that I had to apologize. So, I said, in front of both of them, “I’m sorry you’re a horse’s ass.”
These days anything is offensive as long as someone got offended. My office has few of these people and they’re awesome. So much fun to be around people that can find an -ism in anything they see.
There was a huge witch hunt in the media after the initial video.
thank you for being the only person on this site who can take a joke
And the other shows don’t do stuff for shock value?? Of course they do, regardless of the context. Of course he was trying to go as offensive as possible, that was the whole purpose of the video, and it was clear from the get go. The same goes for Family Guy and South Park though, just that their stuff is more thought…
The humor (I’m taking a guess at this) is the boys’ stupidity in that they don’t read what they’re writing for money. I won’t deny Felix was being a dick at their expense to make them look stupid, but I don’t think Felix hates Jews. He was trolling for the lulz, and the guys didn’t understand English apparently…
Isnt the first step of moving on joking about something though? I know jews have been persecuted a lot in the past but that does not mean everyone hates jews today in the modern world. I’m from Sweden and I dont know a single person who actually hates/dislikes jews because they’re jewish. What we do dislike though is…
if you saw the video, youd understand, he basically posed as an idiot, giving people money, and asked them to do stupid stuff, for example, one post said i will play 3 rounds of hearthstone for 4 bucks, he gave her money, and said will you play roblox instead. another had a man that looked like jesus christ say…
