Yeah he did. I remember growing up watching him on ABC. It’s funny watching clips and being able to identify which network it is without any prompt—ABC’s footage always had a look, NBC’s was brighter, CBS’s was always grittier for some reason.

Thank you! It was a trying year, for sure. Thankfully we live in a small coastal town that is filled with wonderfully loyal people that got us through the dark times.

Kinda reminds me of one of the arcades I went to in the early-mid 1980s. Except you didn’t get table service; you went to the back of the establishment, bought your greasy food and plopped down at the provided tables.

My wife and I own an arcade bar here in Florida. I’m so happy that after all these decades, the culture is still thriving.

I think the place I’m at with the sequel trilogy is to say that as individual films all three of them (yes, even Rise of Skywalker) have a lot going for them but that the trilogy as a whole is a complete and utter failure. The Force Awakens was fun but it set up a Star Wars conflict that awkwardly undoes the

I’m here too!

So, the NES audio chip doesn’t use a sample bank. It has a few analogue tone generators, which are the core of the “same-sounding instruments” you hear in NES games. You then have a few very basic ways to play with the shape of the sound wave further before it gets kicked out to the TV.

I was a suburban white nerd and anime was my gateway to the Boondocks. I fell for it hard cuz it was hilarious, had great animation, and was arguably the first American anime. Once I was in, the Boondocks was my gateway into black culture and radical racial justice. It seems kinda silly to say, but I feel like it

It’s short-sighted to assume that any of the extra cash will be towards paying developers (just ask the CEOs). That is almost certainly never the case. $70 is a lot to ask for. $60 was already the breaking point. And anywhere else that’s not the US, you can add another $5-20 to that price point (which is my

So gorgeous. It reminds me a bit of the practical effects used for surreal effect in Spike Jonze’s ad for Apple Home. CG allows for amazing things these days, but there will always be a place for practical effects.

That's an awesome story! I met him once at the video game history exhibit at the Smithsonian. We were sitting next to each other waiting for Nolan Bushnell to speak. Hr was a pretty coll dude.

Wow. I didn’t know this game existed, let alone being made by Treasure. Thanks for bringing this up. With that said, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree that it has the best music for a McDonald’s game. I’m going to have to give that to Mick and Mack: Global Gladiators composed by my man Tommy Tallarico of

Here’s the fire (heh) remix from All-Stars Racing Transformed.

I badly want to play it. Must be technical issues keeping them from re-releasing it. Sega has to know people love it. They used the song in a PSO quest and Sumo Digital mined Burning Rangers extensively for a level in All-Star Racing Transformed.

No kidding....I listened to the Takenobu Mitsuyoshi track that Mike Fahey closed out the article with, then proceeded to play this in the car to my wife and kids on the school commute:

I loved my Saturn, and giving it away is one of my great regrets. Panzer Dragoon Saga was excellent, the only JRPG from that era that is on the same level, IMO, is Xenogears. The system did not have a lot of top-notch games, but the ones it had were truly awesome.

The internet is a small place! I am with you 100% sega was truly st its best in the saturn and dreamcast but it’s marketing and hardware design was just... off. Oh man... you mention sega racing games and my heart is all aflutter! Rolling Start anyone?!

Yup, in FC2 and TW3 the design is there, but it’s managable, either because the weapons last longer, because you can repair them or both.
