I think it just depends on what you want. It’s better for Music, but the assistant should be fine on the cheaper device. It’s just a matter of options.

If you have a bunch of Chromecasts already, you are already in the Google ecosystem. The Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals will be good, but if it is not worth the small savings to be stuck with Amazon in my opinion, Google’s assistant is just too much better and getting better as well. I personally just pay outright for my stuff. However as to the credit check, good. The difference here is that, Verizon for example does a credit check on you when you open an account with them. They then have a history of you when you make payments and the like, so that is what they check.
