But if I move there, I can take up the Corpus pastime of bitching about potholes not getting fixed when the city spends money on literally anything else! (Maybe I just shouldn’t read the comments ever on a Caller article.) (Also, I like Boat ‘n Net. It’s my kind of trashy.)

“You merely adopted the hate. I was born in Dallas, molded by it. I didn’t see life outside of the Metroplex until I was nearly in college...”

Yeah, but you know it's just be the Real Housewives of Westlake & Maybe One Tarrytown Lady.

That's what happens when the biggest game in town is a Baptist university. (I grew up Baptist in Texas, I know.)

Guess what the weather was like today? (I'll give you a hint. Low 80s.)

I grew up in the Metroplex (born in Dallas), and seriously, if I was told I had to move to either Dallas or Houston, I would choose Houston. Wayyyy too much Oklahoma seeping into North Texas, nowhere near enough sabor. Or HEBs. (MUST. HAVE. CONVENIENT. HEBS.)

Hmm, El Paso is the halfway point on that drive back.

I’ve made that drive in both directions many times. It is 22-ish, but if going solo, it really is safest to stop & get a few ZZZZs along the way, at least for a few hours. (Coincidentally, a drive from Austin to Chicago takes about the same amount of time. We’re just doomed to be a full day away from cities where

I think kids right around my age (35) were the last to lay in the back window or the floorboards. Definitely a different time.
