I don't get it. When young women are displayed half naked in an attempt to sell more stuff, Jezebelites flip their shit, but when young men are displayed half naked you all start shamelessly salivating.
Yes, a diet that lacks an essential nutrient is totally not nutritionally deficient, you got me.
Man, vegans are so easy to rile up. Must be the numerous deficiencies I guess.
That doesn't make them any less of vegan blogs bruh.
Barring all of the conflicting studies out there on this topic, I personally doubt saturated fat is unhealthy because not that long ago in America, up to 45% of our calories were from fats, and most of those fats were saturated fats from lard, tallow, dairy, and meat. Yet deaths by heart disease accounted for less…
Wow, links to psuedo vegan blogs. Why am I not surprised?
I'm glad the official recommendations are dropping the stigma on cholesterol. Hopefully saturated fat or salt is next.
Okay, good. Yeah, I've seen people in all nutrition camps say some stupid shit, which just fuels the nutritional confusion in my opinion.
It's tough to know for sure what's "bad" and what's good with so much conflicting info, but in my opinion if people have been eating the foods for tens of thousands of years then they are probably okay. For me, a balanced diet reigns supreme still, and I don't think I'll die at 30 as a result.
It's not about sex, that's right. Sexual harassment happens frequently to men as well since it's about power, and yet you still only speak of women. The level of cognitive dissonance on Jezebel never ceases to amaze me.
You mean all processed foods, not whole ones. Meat, eggs, most dairy and plants aren't fortified because they don't need to be, milk aside. That shit is enriched because it's nutrient depleted to begin with.
Well, in my opinion if a diet has to be fortified in something then it's not a very good diet, but whatever works for you man. I mean, if you supplement a vital nutrient found in meat and animal products then it would make sense that you would no longer need meat or animal products.
How do you get B12 though? Supplements? Unless you grow your own food and don't wash it in order to preserve the B12 containing bacteria that may or may not be on the surface, I don't see how your diet can actually have that in it in sufficient quantities.
Okay, I just don't want anyone inadvertently hurting themselves in the quest for health. Keep on keepin' on!
Nice catch, I missed that part entirely while reading. I personally don't buy whole heartedly into the paleo/primal/anti-carb camp of eating, but I agree that using one link from Guyenet as "wholeheartedly debunked" is a very bad idea. Too many people will take that as fact.
That's a good tactic. I was thankfully blessed with a mother that raised me with a good diet that focused on meat and vegetables for the most part, but my weakness is still cheese. Now, cheese itself isn't bad, it's just that I gorge myself on it when I get a hold of some, so the tricky part is cutting it down to…
Congratulations, that's quite the achievement! However, don't be scared of fats; they are a vital structural component, and saturated fats are necessary for proper hormone production. Low and no fat stuff is not always the best idea if your goal is health rather than just fat loss alone.
I am really happy this sub-site was made! I look forward to reading what gets posted in the future. Just a couple of issues I personally have:
