I think the majority of the viewing public understands that, among peers, Romo is a guy who played in the NFL and watched a bazillion hours of tape. Among the people who watch the games, it’s a pleasant change of pace to have somebody explain what will happen and why the quarterback will make a specific decision. I

Nate Jackson played six years in the NFL

Mostly it’s because so much football commentary is absolute garbage, and it’s refreshing to hear a human being effectively explaining complex shit in a simple way. We just suffered through a terrible MNF booth that seemed more interested in bringing “debate” into the broadcast over, ya know...just telling us what the

I got like 800 stars for singing Romo’s praises in the Deadspin post on Monday (just stating that because THAT’S A LOT and to confirm any assumption of Romo-bias). I don’t enjoy him because he’s got some kind of second-sight; he’s just a much better color commentator than I’m used to. Even other competent ones like

I’m not so much in awe of how he can do the things he can do in the booth, such as predict plays.  I understand that the guy was an NFL QB very recently and a pretty darn good one at that.  I’m more amazed at how shitty every other color commentator is in comparison and I’m pissed I didn’t get to listen to a Tony

I have been watching football since 2nd grade (in the 80'S). Romo is by far the best booth commentator I have heard, full stop. And I listed to a lot of games with Madden and the other dude.

A New Challenger Approaches!

“I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.”

Hmm. Caught between two Michael Scott quotes to respond to this article. Do I go with “You are a thief of joy”? Or “Why are you the way that you are?” Both apply equally IMO.

Yeah, still don’t care. Having Romo doing what he is doing in the booth is worlds better than almost any other color commentator. It’s not his fault the bar is so low.

Radio play-by-play guys are the best and always will be, TV broadcast will always be second to that. Tony is a good TV guy and Chris Collinsworth is the worst. Somewhere in between them fall the others.

Dude. He was great. Bernie Kosar did preseason for the Browns for a while and could do the same thing.

Patriots : 9 Super Bowls in 17 years or they are in the Super Bowl every other year for 2 decades. 8 Straight championship games.

Every single Brady-Belichick super bowl has been very close and hugely entertaining. Would you prefer the snooze fest like Seahawks over Broncos 43-8?

With the budget they have and Jonathan next in line to ownership, I wouldn’t bet against them staying above .500 [at least] for the foreseeable future.

That seems pretty optimistic. When Brady retires, won’t Belichick too? And Kraft’ll probably die soon after. (Call it a hunch.) I won’t be surprised if they revert to their pre-90s form within a year or two of Brady quitting.

I’m an Eagles fan, as well. Glad we won but dude still put up over 500 yards. It’s unreal to look at his stat line from that game and realize that was the losing quarterback.

Fuck it, I’m an Eagles fan (we’ll always have LII, Tom!), but this year, I am ALL IN on #Team12 for the Superbowl. Fuck LA.

He’s old as fuck for a professional (non-golf) athlete. Might have another year but his final year he’ll be playing like Peyton or Favre’s final year and that’ll be sad to see (unless you take solace in watching an old man past his prime trying to hang on for one last ride). Brady gets a lot of hate for being a

Brady looked injured for part of this year . . but the last 4 games his passes have all the velocity and accuracy necessary to keep playing + his Football IQ is ridiculous and I’m pretty sure he’s part cyborg = I give him until 45 (another 4 years) at least.
