Yeah, pretty much. I’m in my mid-30s, and I’ve really become super uncomfortable with the relentless sexualization of teenagers in anime. It’s gross and it makes me uncomfortable. I watch so little now.

I think the Eva fanservice thing is sort of a joke. there’s so little of it.

I gave up on anime in large part because of its shrill, fanservicey stuff, which, regardless of what gender it’s presenting, is just an annoying, time-wasting distraction.

the truth is, a lot of the men that are into fan service in anime lead sexless, contactless lives, so the sex and “romance” in these shows are all they get.

doesn’t give me chills at all. the idea of a morally weighted afterlife is so ridiculous to me.

Anime just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I can’t say this without sounding like a grouchy old person, but the things that brought me to the medium are all but forgotten at this point. There hasn’t been a cool cyberpunk anime, for instance, in like 15-20 years. I’d settle for a 3rd string Evangelion ripoff at this…

yeah, us metal folk are REALLY specific. I like black metal, grindcore, and doom mostly. but I tend to mostly like the scarier, more hellish side of things, so I listen to almost nothing that a lot of the fans of those genres mostly ingest.

people only get the “you need to listen to this band now” thing from me if I’m fairly certain based on their tastes that they’ll actually like it.
