I work with human tissue every day and have a microbiology degree. Ensuring sterility is a large part of my life. Once you pass the skin barrier, you better not be finding any bacteria in tissues or organs (minus GI tract/lungs, but they are technically “outside the body”). This applies to cows, as well.

This is a correct usage of sterile, though. If a cow has E. coli in its muscular tissue, it has some MAJOR health issues. Urine was thought to be sterile for a good while by experts which promoted the misconception.
