Yeah. I would wager to say that Retro treated her better than one of her co-creators (Yoshio Sakamoto, the director of Other M) handled her. I sort of resent how the Zero Suit went from something practical to fetishwear.

In terms of attraction? Nothing. "Attractive" is not a bad thing. In terms of execution? That's where things get a bit problematic. HOW one goes about being "attractive" can go from understandable to unhealthy.

Yeah, that's TOTALLY what I was advocating...

Agreed. Different people treated her differently. The people at Retro Studios treated her with respect and dignity, and all you ever see in the first game is her taking off her helmet (you don't even see the Zero Suit). The things that happened in Other M were... troublesome... and the Zero Suit was one of but many

Very well stated.

Then you misread my post, not that I stated it incorrectly.

And that perhaps is the reason for the apology, because even the nicest guy might say something that comes out in a way that is harsher than intended or can be misconstrued. I know I've said my fair share of stupid things when caught off-guard that I never truly intended to say and if quoted back at me would make me

It isn't normal that they be treated like slaves...

I know and acknowledge this. You were the one that brought up the issue of women and slavery, which was a whole different can of worms connected disjointedly by the fact that both stem from an utter lack of respect for women as individuals in relation to the sexual characteristics they employ.

I don't "drool" over those women listed. I RESPECT those women I listed. I'm attracted to them as PEOPLE, not as sex objects. There is a vast difference.

Well, for starters, I believe "voting with your wallet" is just step ONE. Step 2 is telling them WHY and step 3 is working to change it. I don't mean to brag, but as an independent game developer, I'm working on a game starring a strong, modestly dressed heroine that defies a lot of the standard video game tropes

Er, possibly because there IS a gender issue, and there is a massive drop-off of "children" slaves globally once they become adults, while adult women continue to be sold as slaves long after they're in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s....

"Man" in that phrase has always been shorthand for "Mankind". See also "Peace on Earth and Goodwill Towards Men" and "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal".

The "rule" is that 95% of all game women are sexualized eye-candy. You can count the respectable ones on your fingers and toes. But they DO exist and we need more of them.

A journalist doesn't have to be satisfied with someone's answer not to press the issue further. If they felt the answer was unsatisfactory, by all means press for more details and clarity. And if that IS the only answer, it's okay to respond to that answer, in length, if you feel the response is either lacking or

Especially on the arctic stage covered in ice.

Actually, I AM designing an indie game with a strong female lead, one that largely subverts the Mario cliche of rescuing the princess... Here's hoping I can get it finished.

I was addressing your point... Millions upon millions of women in cultural society are SLAVES, a claim you brought up and dismissed as something that isn't the case. It's divergent from the topic, but I felt it was worth addressing. It has nothing to do with video games, but you're completely disconnect from reality
