Japan also had some growing pains to make the Shinkansen happen it went double over budget, as it happens everywhere, and like that once it’s operation people rarely remember the initial budget, it just need to be delivered first. I really do hope I can visit the US and the West Coast and not deal with the nightmare

I’d be interested to see how the initial cost was set, and EXACTLY what has caused it over budget. Not interested enough to do any research, but you know, Internet level interested. Is it because they just said “we can build for $1 million per mile” and got the contract, knowing it was way under and they’d get paid

I’d say that Lewis is a bit of a baby, but shit, listen to the man when he tells you what to fix. His résumé is pretty stacked. Also, I’m hoping for anybody to be able to beat Max. Not because I dislike Max but because I hate to see that wife-beating c*nt Jos Verstappen have any kind of joy in his life.

He’s not wrong to be mad. Look at Aston. They did what everyone eventually does after a big rule change and copied the best design. If Merc had done that, they’d be fighting for at least second, not fucking around as the 4th (for now) best car.

I genuinely cannot believe they went with the zero-pod again this year, when it was obvious in Bahrain last year that they were headed down the wrong path.

there won’t be a driver display behind the steering wheel. Instead, there will be a center-mounted circular screen to display all the relevant information.

This isn’t anything new, car makers have cobranded bikes for decades. Just another goofy doo-dad to try and sell owners and aspirational owners. With the exception of the Ferrari/Colonago collaboration they’ve all been super goofy bikes that would never sell on the normal bike market. People who own a Polestar and

Masks make your immune system weaker by protecting it from germs that would toughen it up in the same way seatbelts make your skull weaker by protecting it from bashes on the pavement after a car crash that would toughen it up.

What’s with the threats of “ass kicking” all the time from people?

The average gas tax in the United States is less than $0.30 per gallon.

You must have a very tight sphincter if that qualifies as “out the ass”

And who’s fault is that? They had ample opportunity to “bet” on EV’s for the same amount of time, but they (and most American manufacturers as well) thumbed their noses at companies like Tesla...till they practically became the household word for EVs, and now everyone else is playing catch-up with all their new EVs.

Now playing

China is light years ahead of American manufacturers when it comes to EVs. If you look at some of their offerings, you’d rightfully be terrified if you were a car CEO. If you went to the 2022 Beijing auto show you’d be crapping your pants. Pretty sure Musk went there, came home and started preparing for the onslaught

Yup, this. I would rather Cali limits the grants to like, $20k, such that the folks taking advantage of them would find themselves in used Prii and Leaves.

Wow, I’m all for saving Mother Earth and what not, but if this isn’t some ridiculous grandstanding do-gooder bullshit, then I don’t know what is. If my tax money was being diverted from some of California’s far more serious problems so people in poor neighborhoods can become subsidized Tesla Stans. . . . what the

Wow great header picture. Imagine if all of those cars were electric. It would be so much better would it. Or it could be replaced by like 2 passenger trains

“They” mandate calorie counts on fast food menus already. Whether consumer behavior is influenced by this is up to the consumer. It’s the same for a chime that indicates you’re speeding.

This. Reduce lanes, and build the train system right there.

because we are a useless third world country that cant make even the most basic services real countries have work because of corruption and greed. but we have a world leading military so sorry starving homeless types we need that trillion dollars a year to kill brown people across the ocean.

Politics is the #1 contributor to anything we cannot accomplish here in the states, and there is undoubtedly one party at the forefront of anti-progressive policies. You can’t run a country on a zero budget and you can’t run a country without taxing the rich. And just for the record, it’s not because we have unfair

It's significant that the unions are far more concerned about time off and being perpetually on call rather than salary.  Since management doesn't have to show up at 90 minutes notice like BNSF train crews, screw them, their record profits and million dollar bonuses.  The rail unions should have seats on the board and
