It is unfortunate to see so many jobs going back to demanding people be in the office.  it really is not needed for a lot of jobs (some yes, but for those that don’t need to be, why drive twice a day)

But AWD/4WD is better, just saying. Coming from interior Alaska ;)

The proper response to this is actually a Lexus RX350 hybrid. If you don’t care about driving dynamics -- as somebody who hasn’t driven in 9 years almost certainly doesn’t -- there’s no more comfortable car with plenty of space and every conceivable type of driver assist. I didn’t want to like my wife’s RX350, but

Comments are going to prove the headline true.

In before all of the slippery-slope arguments... I 100% agree. I know I would not like these solutions, but we definitely should have them and if new cars came with them I would deal. We all would. This is not an attack on your freedoms.

I’m so glad my company moved locations and did not include showers in the remodel plans. Because of that I bought an eBike and just crossed 500mi in work commuting today. Using a Kill-a-Watt I figured out that it costs me $.05 to charge the battery for my 17mi round trip commute (consuming .47KWh) and using this

A lot of their apartment buildings and such have really ‘old’ plumbing. No traps built into it, allowing aerosolized virus to spread up and down the building with impunity.

One thing that needs to be pointed out every time when talking about Shanghai here is that Shanghai chose not to actually follow the Chinese guidelines and lock down when they should have. They waited till the case numbers got much higher before deciding to do anything. And that, combined with their aging

Weird how McDonalds doesn’t care when America invades other countries or kills endless amounts of innocents in other countries with drones. Must be for very good reasons i’m sure.

Waze, spotify ... So you don’t have to check the navigation option nor subscribe to Sirius.

There is a way to make a butt-ton of hydrogen cheaply. But it will never actually be made...

I know people are going to say that hydrogen isn’t the future...and it may not be...but this seems like a practical solution for immediate results to transition to whatever long term solution makes the most sense.  For long haul trucking this is still going to be impractical for the obvious reason of fueling stations,

Good. As much as a PITA as hydrogen infrastructure is, it really should be worth it for the trucking industry. Trucks are heavy enough as is, loading them up with a enough batteries to make them competitive with diesel would utterly decimate our roads, and would necessitate even more of them because gobs of their GVWR

The same way you can cherry pick crypto, no? All in all, crypto market has BY FAR outperformed the stock market in the same time frame. Bitcoin outperformed every single asset on the planet. Majority of stocks are down 60%. The only ones that are not are the bigger caps like AAPL, MSFT and AMZN. NFLX is down more than

Can we do the same post for the stock market, or you just have a hard-on for crypto? Majority of stock tickers are now down more than 60% from their ATHs. Probably more this morning at open.

I do not, have not, and never will, own any crypto, but the $100 (and a lot more $100's) that I put in my 401(k) 6 months ago (or last week) isn’t looking so great either.

Agreed - the market for transportation is seriously distorted in all kinds of ways, with externalities and hidden subsidies all over the place. And it’s funny how hidden subsidies/benefits that have been in place for a long time have become entitlements to the very people who most crow about having pulled themselves
