Fuel price in todays dollars
Fuel price in todays dollars
Why are we comparing gas prices to a year ago, when demand was still wildly depressed by the pandemic? Saying they are up a dollar from a time off unnaturally low demand feels more than a tad disingenuous. We are still far below what was the norm for a lot of the past 15 years or so, inflation adjusted.
Makes me wish we still had double DIN headunits as an industry standard so that you could go back to the old standby of JL Audio to replace all the garbage thin-sounding mids only stereo systems installed in cars nowadays.
See, I don't think people do their research. With the tow package it currently tows 7500 lbs, which is easily enough to tow a car on an open trailer. Combine that with the fact it's under $30k for a 4-door version and it's a way better deal than people think.
these people forget a dude ran a marathon in less time than it took clarkson to drive the same distance through london because its such a congested clusterfuck. and that was with the runner still having to dodge traffic and people without having anything closed off for him. major cities are far more enjoyable without…
they didnt say noone should own cars twat. they said cars in city centers suck and our cities were designed and planned to accout for horse and buggies not automobiles. we just took those templates for early cities and used them for everything even tho they didnt work anymore. you can get around most major cities…
Who says he read it. Just skip to the comments.
What the fuck is this? Someone who thinks discussion of auto bans in the densest parts of the biggest cities is about Hartford?
First off, nobody gives a fuck about Hartford. Your tiny-ass city doesn’t even register for this kind of discussion. Second, none of these car bans are actually city-wide car bans. They’re either time or area-limited to target the dense urban areas where cars cause more problems than they solve.
This. Like, there’s the article and then there’s the hot takes from people who can’t imagine getting out of their cars and going anywhere on foot.
This is the hot take I was waiting for. How did people get around before widespread private vehicle ownership? They walked, rode bikes, and used public transport. You bet your ass that public transport gets a whole lot better when everyone relies on it.
There is no reality in which i could commute to a job, or get to a grocery store, without a car going into the city. Public transportation is not only garbage, its totally impossible to do grocery shopping for a family via a bus, or to get to work on time when there isn’t a stop within miles.
First it has never been just “a car enthusiant website” it has always been a transportation site.
The towing capacity of these excursion are legend. And like most legends the truth is somewhere in between.
pretty much every city in europe does this. they allow delivery trucks between midnight and 6am usually. construction and repair vehicles (like plumbers etc) get permits for daytime access which are strictly enforced.
not really. a large industry of for lease/sale parking structures and car rental complexes on the border of the ban area at/near public transport hubs would spring up quickly. for an example take a look at any major german city with a central “Walkplatz” or no cars zone. parking structures get built at major entry…
there are many practical reasons why a total ban of cars and trucks in even a city like NYC, Chicago, Boston or other major cities with decent to good public transit is not feasible.
businesses need to get deliveries, things need to get repaired, buildings need to get built.
that said, it is entirely feasible to ban…
They don’t “refuse to build” them, there wasn’t enough of a market for these to sustain them in the first place even at a *MUCH* higher profit-per-unit than the small cars that have been dropping like flies for the past 5-6 years.
That’s fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that this is a shitbox from the worst era of American carmaking.
Reality: Price of $47K with deliveries starting in 2026 or 2027, if at all. Buyers will also have the fun and adventure of being their own QA inspector.
