According to the prosecutor that was his position. It could have been the plea was 30 years, or something overly long, and the prosecutor refused to negotiate, denying the defendant a chance to come off his opening position of a traffic citation.

This...is how you negotiate a plea. You don’t start at what you think is reasonable. And a lawyer who says publicly his client’s ultimate position is a moron. Just because the DA offered a deal doesn’t mean it was a good-faith deal.
