I read that more as “the two women—who already have a greater up-hill fight due to their gender—are kneecapping themselves by not having a super PAC”, since the preceding statement was about how she had resisted having one until that point.

And as I point out, the details in the article cast serious doubt to the prosecutor’s claim. This entire process sounds like nothing more than a steamrolled fast-track to state-sponsored murder, while cops are profiting off of the crimes (but I’m not making any statements on the veracity of the defendant’s claims).
