I used to use public wifi a decent amount, but honestly, with the amount of spoofing going on now, I’ve cut back completely unless it’s something I’m really sure is legit and I'm desperate.
Public Wi-Fi only really exists in SOME cities. 95% of the rest of the U.S. Is mobile data only. On average I burn about 160ish gb a month driving a truck, thank god for T-Mobile.
