Apple would need to claim they invented phones in general for the Wright brothers patent wars to be analogous.

Sure, but gregg3 was saying the jury's verdict was nationalistic. Of course biased jurors can get through, but doesn't mean they always do. I just think its petty to say the jury's wrong, because they're all fanboys. You're not saying that, but others here are implying that. Samsung and Apple agreed on the jurors.
Preach! When Jobs announced the iPhone he mentioned how heavily patented it was, and how they were going to protect their intellectual property. From the get-go Samsung had a big warning from Apple. Even Google warned Samsung about how similar their products were to Apple's.
People don't need to mistake them to infringe. Being not that different is enough to sway someone to choose a cheaper Samsung phone over the heavily patented iPhone.
I doubt they'd outright donate the cash, but instead offer free iPads to that amount or something like that.
Finding everyone a little guilty doesn't necessarily make for a fair decision. Just because the US verdict favored Apple doesn't mean the jury needs to throw Samsung a bone to make them fell better.
I found the evidence, Apple gave against Samsung, made it comedically obvious that Samsung was guilty of willful infringment. I would have been surprised had Samsung won damages. I think Samsung will likely appeal, but be more open to Apple's terms on settling out of court. So I think if Samsung appeals, there's…
Apple just hit the smartphone scene 5 years ago, and went from nonexistent player to top dog in that time. And to be fair, Apple's total iPhone units sales aren't by any means the top seller, but by profit. Apple's no monopoly, and the smartphone industry is an example of perfect competition. If Apple can come up…
I don't see how the jury pool is tainted, because the hearing took place in the US. If anything, Samsung was reprimanded for publicizing court documents, to sway public opinion and potentially the jury. Look on the bright side, at least they don't have to pay the $2.75B originally sought. Samsung will have to be…
Apple specifically cited how other phones, like the Nokia Lumia, managed to compete without copying. This just means Apple will have more competition, and consumers will have more options. We won't get the Samsung iPhone, but something else more innovative.
Nope. I'm sorry to say you're still mistaken. Believe it or not, more iPads sell the holiday quarter. If you want to say the 41% of iPad sales that the previous generation comprises doesn't count as sales, then consider this:
Pretty sure that's been the case for a lot of day and ages.
$399 isn't for last years refurbs. just like for the iPhone, Apple sells the previous generation new alongside the current generation. Being over a year old doesn't make them obsolete, but still very formidable. The less expensive options make for significant sales. Forbes recently reported that the iPad 2 comprise…
I'm a student. I'm not buying anyone an iPad. I make close to min wage, but I wouldn't call $399 for an iPad extremely expensive. I don't think it's a stretch for a parent to gift their progeny a MacBook Pro, much less an iPad. Going to class where 90% of fellow students are sitting behind that glowing Apple logo, I…
I suppose, but it takes little effort for me to get a new Apple product. I can have the new MBP in 20 minutes. Just got to walk to the campus bookstore, and swipe my ID card for one. The downside to skipping generations is that you lose more resale value than if you had sold it just before the refresh announcement. …
I know all too well how that works. I'm not holding a collection of the 3 MBPs, 2 MBAs, 1 MB, 1 Mac Mini, 1 iMac, 4 iPads, and 5 iPhones I've purchased in the past 6 years. I've definitely taken advantage of the fact that most Apple products retain their value.
I wouldn't be so sure. No matter when any company releases a product, if its giftable, then more likely than not sales will be highest during the holiday quarters.
That sucks they don't make it optional. The iPhone app used to be so much slower than the mobile browser version, but now the app's the fastest way to fb. A better Android version will probably debut in the not too distant future.
I'm no marketing expert, but I don't think Apple will whip up as much hype saying that. As annoying as it may be, Apple has to put the best spin on their products. They're a business. To be fair, they'll say all those things, just with more exciting words. They'll say they made the greatest product in the universe…
No they won't; they'll say they made it better. Like when the MacBook Air came out, they said it was the best way to do a netbook. If they continue with the Jobs' method, they'll start the presentation by trashing all the other 7-in tablets, then show how the new 7-in iPad beats them on all counts.
