James Cameron said at the premiere of the Hobbit that he will shoot in 48 fps if it is well received in the Hobbit. So higher frame-rates aren't a sure thing yet.

My last doctor appointment, my blood pressure was taken using an iPad. I had no problem with it. Felt like a smarter way to take my blood pressure. You get a digital read, and the blood pressure automatically is logged into the doctor's database.

Obviously you made that up. The case Samsung would make is that if Apple is so willing to license these patents then infringement must not be causing the irreparable harm that Apple claims. Thus, Apple would still be entitled to the $1 billion ruling, but not the trebled monies.

I think this makes more sense when we call it a contraceptive, instead of just condoms. I have a feeling more women would opt for more inconspicuous contraceptives than a female condom.

So other tech companies can't have "retina" displays or "game centre" apps? I don't see what the big deal about that is. Everyone uses their own trademarked marketing monikers. This is just business as usual for any tech company.

Curious this breaking news comes out the same day reports of iOS now holding higher US sales market share than Android. Not a peep about that story. Instead, Giz gives us this little gem. Curious. That's all.

I have a feel Giz will be waiting a long time for that comment. I wonder why Giz hasn't reported that iOS just overtook Android in market share of sales yet. Hmmm... Whether you like Apple or not, that's pretty significant tech news.

Apple applied for this patent over 2 years ago. It was just now granted.

I'm excited by it actually. I like the idea of increasingly different user experiences. If every tech company is striving to design similar user experiences, then innovation slows down. I'd much prefer companies innovate and come up with something completely different, yet intuitive, than copy each other. Frankly,

Those numerous apps agree with me. As they, kindle app included, do not use that animation.

That's irrelevant to the argument I'm making. Even if it should be a copyright, it's still intellectual property.

Yes, and, actually, Apple's been using this for ages. They've only now been granted the patent, over 2 years after first applying for it. Been on the iPad since it was first released. Just because Android apps copied Apple's design for their own apps for "ages," doesn't make it any more right. Apple did it first.

Apple didn't patent a book. Sorry, but the video game example you provided is patented, and every console maker/video game company pays for a license to use it. "Back in 1969, a man named William Rusch filed a patent application for a “Television Gaming Apparatus” that used a paddle-type control to move onscreen

Your SE P800 let you drag your finger across the screen to turn a page, eh? No it didn't. It didn't even have a touch screen. Sheesh.

Did your ebook reader app come out before the iPad? The iPad's had this little feature since Day 1.

I don't see the problem with this patent. Apple didn't patent the functionality of turning digital pages, as Eric points out. They just patented their specific execution, which is Apple's invention. They have "a" patent on turning digital pages, not "the" patent on turning digital pages; other companies are free to

Seriously? I didn't even have to read the lonked article to know that headline was a big eff up. AMAZON is losing up to a billion a year. Why hasn't this been corrected yet?

What do mean for first time in a long time? For the first time in a long time, Apple is debuting more than one current generation iOS device in the same product category. When Apple debuted the iPhone 4S, or iPad 3, there wasn't another current-generation version to report separate sales for. Notice they didn't

Oh because Apple's running out money suing people, and their profits are down. Oh wait.

I don't know who you're trying to group me in with, but I personally don't believe Apple competitors should be bashed in reviews of Apple's products. I was pointing out that Brian, at this point, has proven to be biased against Apple. I'm basing my opinion on the fact that he's able to spin the most positive news
