I think the iPad mini's release date would be short after the announcement. I don't think Apple would want to risk any premature cannibalization of the iPad as people hold out for the mini's release. Also, if the mini is announced in September, I have a feeling Apple would move the release date of the iPad 4 back.

With the educational discount, the higher specs you choose, the more value you get in your purchase. The discount increases, the more you spend. Just choosing the top 2.7 processor saves $400 off the regular store's price. Probably the best benefit of being in school right now.

I agree. Apple's design philosophy seems to be "if it ain't broke." Look at the new MBP retinas. Design wise, its exactly the same as the unibody models that debuted in 2008, except slimmer. Everyone's fawning over how magnificent the new MBPs are. Why? Because of the specs. I don't see how it should be different
