There’s a bar in the local Nordstrom’s, which is kind of a catch-22. I’m probably more likely to spend too much money shopping at Nordie’s if I’m drunk, but if I buy drinks at their prices I won’t have any to spend in the store.

I worked in a studio where this one guy would come in smelling of alcohol all the time. He was a nice guy, but he was/is an alcoholic for sure. He was suspended from work several times, but our boss and him were old friends, and his work was always exceptional.  I think eventually, they had to finally let him go, or…

In addition, if she had formed the specific intent prior to getting drunk, and got drunk just to get the liquid courage, then her inebriation again does not negate her intent.

Being drunk is a legitimate defense to shoplifting which is a specific intent crime. Maybe she is smart. Walk out with the merchandise and if she gets caught... I was drunk. Then the question is whether she is guilty of shoplifting the two beers (three?) it took to get her drunk. So then do they charge her with…
