Would she have gotten away with it if she didnt steal the rest of the stuff? ARGH I must know!
Unless it was her ‘invisible’ friend that told her to get drunk and then further guided her to commit other shoplifting crimes...
That lady needs AA and mental help.
There’s a bar in the local Nordstrom’s, which is kind of a catch-22. I’m probably more likely to spend too much money shopping at Nordie’s if I’m drunk, but if I buy drinks at their prices I won’t have any to spend in the store.
But isn’t it a general rule that the chef should never go sober?
Of course it was Stella Artois.
I worked in a studio where this one guy would come in smelling of alcohol all the time. He was a nice guy, but he was/is an alcoholic for sure. He was suspended from work several times, but our boss and him were old friends, and his work was always exceptional. I think eventually, they had to finally let him go, or…
when i was not 21, I went into a grocery store at like 11pm on a saturday with a friend, drunk as all hell. We went to the beer and soda aisle, emptied 2 12 packs of coke onto a shelf, filled it with bud ice cans (of all the things we could have chosen...) and proceeded to the recently installed self-checkout line…

Damn, that’s some addict shit right there.
In addition, if she had formed the specific intent prior to getting drunk, and got drunk just to get the liquid courage, then her inebriation again does not negate her intent.
When i was in my 20's, there was 5 of us roommates sharing rent on a house. One those guys never bought groceries, He always went to grocery shopping but never came back with anything other than toiletries. One day, one of the girls in our group decided to follow him. This guy got a cart, hit the deli counter and…
Thanks for giving me law school flashbacks.
How many Stella _can_ I consume in a Target dressing room and be OK? 4? If I get a little hungry, can I cruise over to the food section and pick up snacks?
[phone rings]
But did this person place those Stella bottles in the proper recycling bin?
Being drunk is a legitimate defense to shoplifting which is a specific intent crime. Maybe she is smart. Walk out with the merchandise and if she gets caught... I was drunk. Then the question is whether she is guilty of shoplifting the two beers (three?) it took to get her drunk. So then do they charge her with…
It sounds pretty good right now; no one would look for me there.
