Just to clear things up a bit, what you saw today was the Titan XD, which rides on an all-new fully-boxed frame. The chassis is derived from our heavy-duty NV Cargo vans, which have a proven record of toughness and reliability. (Look for Media Center vid on NV customer with 500,000 miles) The Titan, which is a

This is a great question. First of all, we looked at the segment, which is being defined by the competition and not the customer. We looked at how the customer purchases a truck, and they don't necessarily shop half-ton or heavy-duty. The customer looks at what kind of towing they want to do, what kind of power they

You are correct that when we launched the Titan in 2003, we covered about 50 percent of the segment. We've expanded that with the new tract cover a much broader share of the truck market with the new cab, bed, powertrain, and chassis configurations.

Please note that the TITAN XD chassis has no common components with the previous-generation Titan. The XD chassis was designed specifically to meet our towing and hauling targets. Some of the components on the XD are shared with our proven, durable commercial van platform used on the NV2500 and NV3500 - which are

This goes back to the positioning of the truck. The diesel was developed for towing and hauling performance, with great fuel economy. It was not developed for grocery-getting fuel economy only, with compromised towing and hauling. We developed it as a towing and hauling truck that get good fuel economy in every

We heard the same response during focus groups. This was a reason that we positioned the Titan XD in the white space between the industry-standard half-ton and 3/4-ton trucks. We feel this positioning is a sustainable growth area in the truck segment.

Every engineer working on the program was asked to consider quality first priority. You will see areas that we have made changes in, such as brake size, axle size, front and rear differentials. Also, the frame and chassis for the Titan XD is completely unique to accommodate the increased payload and towing targets.

That's an interesting question. Where Raptor has created their white space with an off-road truck, we're working in a white space in the towing and hauling performance area. Towing and hauling performance are key purchase considerations for the customer, and I think we have unique product with the Cummins V8.
