References to Donald's administration are so weird in fiction, they feel like some over the top joke that's hardly believable.

Literally and unironically, nah. Gus is a jerk.
I think Roiland has expressed some dumb political views in the past that border on libertarianism but I don't think he's ever come out and said he's one. I mean, it's a stupid ideology to have but it's still a funny cartoon so whatever.
They are loosely based on the Bushes, but they're also loosely based on Hurwitz' own family in some ways. They're also so similar to The Royal Tenenbaums that Hurwitz almost scrapped the show in development fearing that it'd look like he copied them. They're based on a lot of things.
Gob's name comes from Jeb! (minus the exclamation mark the latter added to his identity in 2015). His personality doesn't.
what lol
No, I actually wouldn't in that situation. Her friend needed her, and I'd be mature enough to realize that.
She should have shrugged it off because Gus was being insufferable there. Honestly, my personality just aligns so much more with Mickey than Gus that it makes it hard for me to empathize with the guy. Ultimately, both of these people would be happier far apart.
"On the other, Gus could have been genuine about his interest in her sobriety, putting his feelings aside for her. Neither of them are right; both have the right to argue why their actions made sense to them at the time."
I was just about to post the same thing. Does Link go insane trying to keep the golden shit?
I feel the same way. Veep's the funniest show on TV, and I'll still watch but it's certainly going to seem really weird now. If I were working on it, I'd probably find competing with Donny's administration very stressful.
You said it better than me.
It's a funny sitcom with a dark undercurrent. Why does it need an underlying "subtext"?
It was but those movie theme song scenes make me want to kill myself.
I still wish this show was just Bertie and Mickey. Bertie doesn't get nearly enough screentime.
Donny, you read this site?!
That's sad, I'd like Stan as my neighbor. He's a good guy.
In normal situations, yes. In that situation, I disagree. The man literally threatened to kill her twice.
We almost had Republican nominee Santorum in 2012. To act like Donny is an aberration is silly because it's been a long line of con artist criminals rising to the top in the GOP.
Yeah, Clinton's answer there pissed me off to no end. Though the question that prompted it ("Say something nice to each other! Tee hee!") was the most insipid bullshit to ever be uttered on TV.
