I can't believe they had to bleep that. It would've been such a nice moment.

None of it had to do with Conan leaving. Not trying to be mean, but that's got to be the number one Simpsons critcism that seems informed, but simply isn't. He left in 1993, years before any decline.

You're right, my mistake.

Overplayed? I wanted more of the Richter Quints. I'll agree it matched season 3's vibe, but it matched in a good way. Season 3 was all about the pay off of two years of escalating insanity, and a refusal to change for the "idiot demographic".

How can you say it'll be hack comedy when we haven't seen one episode of season 4?

It was a very funny episode, but the tag sounds like faux-sentimental garbage. And he "teared" up over it. Crazy.

Agreed too. That scene sounds bad. The only funny thing about is the fact that Dan Harmon "teared" up over it. My god. If he thought that was a deep, scene full of well earned sentiment, then I'm kind of looking forward to seeing if the new executive producers can exercise that completely.

The fireplace thing was apparently a cut joke (possibly a suicide joke).

Right. The botched intervention is not a continuity error, but there are some other flashbacks that do contradict what the Narrator says in the pilot.

Michael's awkward "Hacha!" to end the song is perfect, and completely unexpected.

SOBs is one of my favorite episodes. It was a great parody of schlocky, TV events. And it has the Richter Quintuplets, which is one of the most insane and hilarious ideas to come out of the show.
