People up above talking about the much cheaper, less stout, modestly equipped GTIs aren’t running them up to 300-400k miles before they get rid of them. I’ve owned a GTI, I own a 900 Turbo. The SAAB is a luxury GT Hatch, the early GTIs are cheap and junky.

What year is your RAM? The recall on these shifters posted last year was supposed to patch the software to perform exactly how you say your truck does FCA Shifter Recall. My wife’s 2014 Grand Cherokee had the recall completed and now works just as you described. Seems like Ms. Dawson never had the recall completed.
