Expecting the user to be in control of, and informed to the severity or, system patches is a pipe dream. Especially when your product is blamed for "all the viruses"

I worked for HP (in R&D) during the purchase/abandonment of Palm. I could only scream in silence as I watched some of the best mobile software get swept under the rug :(

Can't edit on mobile. What I meant to say is idiot resistant

if you can come up with a way to modify/replace system critical files without a restart, I'd love to hear it ;)

This right here. Microsoft made patching idiot proof in the same vein as implementing User Account Control.

at least we got a new hot key that does something, even if it is half assed :)

Good on ya. No prod box should ever be auto patched. That's what the weekends are for ;)

Expect a lot of things that showed up in WP 8/8.1/8.1.1/8.1.2 to come to not only your computer via Windows 10, but your Xbox One too. "Unified feel" is a big thing at Microsoft these days.

You can turn that off/change it in Windows Update settings. They can be found by clicking on the Start button, clicking in the search bar and typing "windows update". There are a few options to choose from, such as "download and install updates automatically" (default), "download only, install later", and "I'm a

What would users do without their precious drive lettering? I would be happy with a new file system though :)

RE Point 1: Has been since Windows NT. There's a reason automatic patching has been built in since 2000/XP. Honestly since 2008 (Vista) came out, the system has been much more stable during patching however nobody can expect a root file to change without being stopped/restarted :)

Forced reboots are only patches deemed critical to system health or operation. Otherwise you have the ability to postpone up to 4 hours at a time. Alternatively, if you're good with patching yourself, you can set Windows Update to download and wait to apply until manually started/shutdown.

You take that back!

Yup. Porn.

If it’s anything like Colorado’s “necessary repairs” it means doing everything within reason to resolve the issues on the smog fail. Gaskets, EGR systems, vapor lines, cats, whatever it “should” take to clear the issue

The code really is bullshit. Baseball can’t even properly utilize CSS.

Ban Doge and another meme will take its place

They switched because they thought the names were why the cars weren’t selling. They were wrong.

Saab did it first :)

Neutral: I certainly hope so. When every car looks like a Honda Accord and is named like a BMW, how can the unwashed masses tell the difference?
