There's Lucy, MTM and then JLD on TV's lady Mt. Rushmore.
And no Carol Burnett is not the 4th.
No one is.
Those 3 own the mountain top.
Oh and as for that stupid headline…
she was pretty 'honed' after Seinfeld.

You did a good job of pointing out the less than great writing that ultimately doomed this show. When Eva Green was on the show was sensational. When she wasn't it was less so. Without her there's little point in continuing.

I liked not knowing.

It smells as if the showrunner wasn't planning on getting the hook but when told had to scramble to wrap everything up.

R.I.P. Penny Dreadful.
Let's hope SHO does not ruin everything by resurrecting it.
I love the concept of shows running 1, 2 or 3 seasons and closing out their arc.
The vast majority of TV shows hang around too long.
It's time for the sensational Eva to do something else.

"It feels mechanical."
Have you seen the opening credits?
They clearly relish being mechanical!

"The Doll" (S02E07) is still the all-time greatest half hour TV comedy episode.

There are a lot of funny moments in the film and if you don't find them funny then you won't like the movie. Many West Coast critics did not like "The Departed." I think it's a Scorsese masterpiece. But I'm from Boston and thought it was extremely funny in many scenes. If you are from Pasadena a lot of it probably

THE best time I ever had in a movie theater was seeing Scarface on opening night at a theater with a predominantly Black audience. They got all the comedy and invented some that perhaps wasn't supposed to be there. (The entire audience Howled with laughter when Pacino's face fell into that Pile of coke.) It's not a

Favorite De Palma guilty pleasure is The Fury.
Hard to beat John Cassavetes, Kirk Douglas and exploding heads.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot.
John Williams does the score.
I don't think he did many 'horror' films.

I'll take WB's movie thank you.
His performance in that is some of his best work.
The supporting players are all equally good.
And he's the better director.
My favorite Claude Rains performance besides Casablanca is the serpentine diplomat in Lawrence of Arabia.
His take on The Invisible Man, he plays him like a strung out

It's hopeless.
I hope he invested his money well.

Considering the magnitude of it all his was the worst casting in Hollywood history.

Ahh but do you then write long pieces extolling the virtues of corn chips and Yoo Hoo for the AVClub?

Oh God, you're one of those guys who walks out of the French patisserie to buy a Twinkie. Enjoy.

Have at it Hoss.
Some folks can't get enough Burger King.

The Jacksons were a family. The Monkees were a TV show programed by a network. They held an open casting call and could have hired all sorts of great musicians including some Black ones. Some minor Monkees trivia: Stephen Stills auditioned but did not make the cut. I don't 'hate the Monkees.' They are far too mediocre

I don't need Spotify. I lived through it. AND as a working DJ in the 70s played them on the radio extensively. So I am well aware of their place in music of that time. Personally there is so much stunning music from that era that most people will never hear that to even contemplate folks wasting time on this is

The list of truly extraordinary music from that era is so vast, it's one of the greatest music eras in history, that it seems a waste to focus on this by comparison extreme mediocrity. But hey hey they Were cute.

"However, you can't argue with the music itself."
That's precisely what I'm doing.
Especially in relation to all the truly great music from that time.
It's like living in New Orleans while extolling the virtues of The Big Mac.
