It was New Year’s Eve
It was New Year’s Eve
There is a very Stephen Tobolowsky looking dude at the end there. That is all.
You frame seemed a bit odd and personal. Sure, Gregory was great, but he really never looked like THE FAVORITE at any point. Melissa was so strong that the better frame would have been her coronation. A win by the second most likely winner (Bryan) would have felt like an upset. Melissa won more elimination challenges…
I think I am wrong and you are right. But, if we use the purely technical definition of special effects, doesn’t lose the intended meaning in this context? Wouldn’t any foley work or a stunt person driving a car or a plane or even a fake slap count?
I liked the movie, but hard to argue that it is a Sci-Fi movie. Set in the present. No alternate/advanced technology. No scientific facts true in the movie that are not true in our own current understanding of the universe (alien life, etc.j. More of a disaster movie.
That seems an untenable point: “practical” exists in the terminology to specifically distinguish from special effects.
And, retro cars
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, is not really Sci-Fi. There’s no futurism and no alternate technology. If it had to be lumped into a genre, I would think you would go with disaster movie albeit one with an unusual structure for a disaster movie. I would suggest Gattaca in its place though am open to someone…
I love Sarah Polley, but I found Alias Grace pretty disappointing. The structure did not work for me. I found it exasperating.
To be clear that was said from a Warren supporter
Sorkin does a very good job of slapping the Democrats, too. The hate crime bill episode is a wonderful example
I honestly think this is a pretty bad list. I disagree with some inclusions, but have more problem with some serious omissions:
I think you are not giving credit to how actually amusing it is in a laugh with it not laugh at it way. Sure, the whole company and all of its products are ridiculous and dumb, but this ad is pretty wonderful (especially since its underlying premise seems to be “this is all ridiculous and dumb.”)
That is a very confusing statement between the em dashes. Are you just being more precise? Are you suggesting that the revival was not a success? If so, financially or critically? Is the some third implication that was intending by I am missing? And, why the italics? Do the italics make it a joke?
Why did you decide to bust out nonagenarian incorrectly?
Dealing with China IS actually difficult, zmy moral compass says, “scream and yell and fight for what you think is right.” I think the most amount of freedom is right and we should scream and yell for that. But, it is really complicated: Chi;a is authoritarian. Are the people of China generally okay with that? If they…

I am far more concerned about the size of the biscuits the play-by-play guy eats and even more worried about whether he has baskets made of human hands.
We definitely do not need more Greg Schiano in our lives.
If that’s what your martinis look like, you should have a talk with your bartender.
