Lil’ bit.
Lil’ bit.
Actually, many women of color named Ricki Lake in their response, telling her that she wasn’t even the first white woman to do it. So please, fall back.
You didn’t tell ONE lie.
Unsolicited advice from someone who survived a very necessary estrangement from her own mother: beware of anyone who attempts to convince you that you should be able to look past this. I wish someone had told me 20 years ago that “blood is not thicker than safety.” Thank you and good luck.
I still think he does ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you for articulating what I couldn’t. It reminded me of a review I read of “Beasts of the Southern Wild” by Aaron Roxby at collider.com: “The whole thing has an odor of “poverty tourism” that I couldn’t shake.”
Most often it happens to be a white one.
Pretty hard in fact. She dressed as black woman in HUNGARY! Trust me, they are extremely racist, with almost fascist goverment and lot´s of Hungarians really, really hate POC.
PS:I know, tha blackface is extremely offensive and she shouldn´t use it.
Oh I guarantee we will
Copied is a bit generous - she photoshopped her face into the original pictures and looks like she fixed her lips on occasion.
The original women have such emotion and power in their expressions—this lady is a dead-eyed, flat-faced nothing.
I’m imagining the women in the original portraits are reacting to her project. The Arbore tribeswoman seems thisfuckingclose to a throat punch.
I will watch this in the theater and buy the DVD.
Did you see Spy?? It was so good. This is going to be great. We need more women in ridiculous comedies!!!!
I saw a screening of this back and July. Looks like I can finally talk about it! I don’t know if they changed much (the audience I was a part of all seemed to love it), but it was really silly and funny.
I can see I need to add context to my previous comment. My friend was on a run and she and her running partner come up on 2 unknown dudes looking at something in the brush. She asks, “what are you guys looking at?” Because people are friendly and curious. The wildlife encounters have gotten more frequent and numerous…

Best hugs, best brownies.
Ha, I know, it’s kind of insane. But I’m not going to copy the whole thing! I’ll just have onion rings.
I respect Bourdain’s insulting ability.
