The old guard was an awful movie, predictable plot, terrible dialogue, 90s stylized action. It’s one contribution was an underwritten gay couple in an action movie, big whoop. This would have been a good movie in 1991, not 2020. I feel like we are just handing out participation trophies now, I get there were slim

Absolutely, let’s pretend Kotaku’s [super ethical] system was adopted by the industry at large. You are presented with a myriad of problems, I’ll list a couple:
- First off, without a system of measurement with which all games must be held you are left with a vague idea of worth and function. Every review ever will

I think it’s rather cowardly to hold back a solid assessment. It’s exactly the model the game industry would want, then companies could create as much garbage shovelware as possible.

I hate this new review system even more than the old one. Knock the 1-10 scale all you want, it’s infinitely better than this garbage. I was left so confused as to value of this game to fighting fan, a casual player or anyone really.

Mostly Ryan Reynolds butt, the movie is aimed squarely at the 12-14 age group. Not that I didn’t enjoy it but I’m a very immature manchild. >:)

Another hateful christian. No news here.

Not the original zelda at all. That’s a link to the past, youngster.

This isn’t an anime thing. It’s pretty much how every dad in the world carries their kids.

Noone should be surprised by this, the video gaming industry is the largest entertainment business now. Love me some ftl though.

I heard that as well, was laughing my head off.

Breaking news: Apple sucks.

Welcome to what everyone else who knows anything about computers and operating systems has known since the 80's.

I don’t think it looks fun at all and I’ve played countless shooters. If I want doom nostaligia, I can boot up my older doom games. What about the trailer looks fun or satisfying? It looks like they just toned down and reskinned Serious Sam.

-The finishing sequences would interrupt gaming flow.
-The graphics are incredibly underwhelming, looks like incredibly low polygon count creatures, maybe so they can put 40 of them in the room with you.
-The game seems more in line with the Doom movie than the Doom games, over the top cheese, no scares or forboding.
-Non

I dunno, I’m getting a strong Serious Sam vibe from the trailer. The original doom might not be scary by today’s standards but when it came out, the idea of a hidden wall dropping and unleashing a bunch of enemies was a pretty effective scare tactic. Doom 3 tried to keep the idea of the game series being a scary

It was ok, the graphics were definitely cutting edge when it came out but the shooting mechanics were...average. This version of doom doesn’t look that good though.

I agree with this.

It’s not entitlement, it’s a paid service and if people are paying for a service which isn’t delivering, it’s their right to be upset. Being a corporate apologist like you is sickening.

Don’t forget Elaine’s boyfriend from Seinfield.

Please do, this is the first thing I thought watching the trailer.

As someone who used to compete at a very high level on the early e-sport scene back in the days of unreal tournament, quake and counter strike, I can’t endorse Halo and it’s lack of skill as a valid e-sport. There is absolutely not a single thing about the Halo system that makes it a skill based first person shooter.
