I don’t understand how that’s not a fatal flaw. It’s not even one of those cases where the flaw is universal to similar works, like finding sexism in eighteenth-century novels. The early sixties were right on the verge of social change, the character in the novella was quite different (and was from California), and

More about both.

I had high hopes for it because I love garbage, but man. I just wanted that movie to be something it wasn’t. Either go all the way full on biblical or dial it back and make it more subtle. Don’t do something obvious that’s pretending to be deep but really just comes off as narcissistic. Or narcissism was the point?

mother! was a fucking awful movie, like unwatchably bad. I just could not sex the dude responsible for that particular pile of crap.

Then all your friends died.

We used to have a drinking game with Michael Bay movies. One part was every time there was a 360 shot, we would take a shot. We were very drunk, very early on.

JLaw needs a better radar. This dude is NOT for you.

For some reason the post about Apollo 13 made me want to watch Armageddon. So here I am now, watching Armageddon. It’s streaming on Netflix in case anyone is interested.

I don’t understand how a gender swapped Overboard is supposed to work. Given that even in 2017 that most men don’t do their equal share of the housework and childrearing, what on earth is to be gained by convincing an amnesiac rich guy that he’s poor AND your husband? The original is charming and hilarious, but only if you ignore the whole false pretenses, held against her will, rape-y kind of overtone of the Sweaty Carpenter’s scheme to defraud the rude rich lady. It works because the chemistry between Goldie and Kurt is palpable and everyone in the movie is having a really great

The Casting Couch was a bar on Cahuenga Boulevard in the Valley, walking distance from Universal Studios and Warner Bros Studios. I never went in but always passed it heading to the 101 freeway onramp.

One of the blinds has this as a likely guess today—

They have. Spitalny was a horror:

For those curious, here are the films in the clip in order:

Interesting article! This is a great movie in the way it presents the dialogue - people talk over each other, carry on multiple conversations at once, etc. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another movie that does this so effectively and realistically.

I bet Phil Spitalny’s Girl Orchestra could tell some stories.....

The fact that a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake is his “passion project” just makes me LOL. I don’t know why.

it is a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake (you left out the original, What Price Hollywood? starring Constance Bennett).

Hmm. The person I’m thinking of doesn’t deserve to go to heaven.
