Ah, so by comparison this must seem amazing. Still, there is much room for improvement.
Precisely, mastery at work. It epitomises the snowball joke scheme, things that are funny on their own but also contribute to bigger laughs to come. In some ways it's what the finale tried to do but didn't pull off (though I still enjoyed it).
Yup, was just a casual reader before last year. I can only imagine how much hatred people had in the comments for that horrid season of tepid ideas badly executed.
Glad you found them more enjoyable the second time around. There were murmurs about the Jesus episode being an old script that had been repurposed (I can't remember if it was an old red dwarf script or something else) and I agree it did feel slow and a little obvious but at the time I gave it the benefit of the doubt…
I meant other reviews of Top Chef written by Libby.
We NEED a Thea on the salmon ladder scene. That midriff demands it.
Did you finish?
I think everything about the episode is just so sharply honed and perfectly timed. It's like a perfectly balanced wine glass tower, with the last glass just being put on top before Moss slips and brings them all crashing down.
I really hope Libby doesn't review Top Chef next year, we deserve someone with at least a passing knowledge of food and cuisine, it's immensely frustrating to see reviews that concentrate solely on the dull drama or whatever wider crusade Libby is stuck on that week (though the love/hate thing with Blaise was amusing)…
I think he also ran out of time to prep the heads properly for frying which can lead to tough antennas and shards of shell no matter how well you fry them. As you said his real mistake was putting the heads in the soup instead of perched on the edge or on the side, it would have better for the presentation and the…
In a word, no. It wasn't as good as the highest heights but the show is past having a purpose or a defining goal so I judge it on enjoyment. Yes, the actors are old but it's not like they're Monty Python, missing all the comic beats and just going through the motions. The actors (for the most part) seem genuinely…
It started before BBT was a thing. If you don't enjoy The Work Outing (s02e01) then you will never enjoy it.
I disagree, X was a definite return to form. Though I am a Red Dwarf apologist (I even enjoyed series 7 and 8). I am disappointed with the lack of cutting edge sci-fi theory in the newer episodes though. But I guess it is harder to continually find new and interesting theories to turn into plots.
XI is out in the Autumn.
Live action obviously, animated doesn't count.
Red Dwarf XI will be on in the Autumn, so that's somethign to look forward to.
Cockroaches wasn't bad but that's mainly compared to the piss poor Crims that started at the same time. And Cockroaches does have a catchy theme tune which are few and far between these days. I agree with Up the Women though, so very dull when it could have been great.
Hyperdrive was ok. Not a lot else really gets sci-fi and comedy right.
He initially said Nathan would be plating all the dishes and in some of the shots it looked like that was happening but at some points it looked like a free for all.
