A bell-sleeve would have improved this a la 60s gogo dancer. Or that woman who sings groove is in the heart:
“after a short-lived, secret marriage”
Q: What do they call fraud before an inditement?
I didn’t read the xoJane site but my absolute first reaction to this post is that it’s a shame that the archive was deleted. Good, great, bad, sucky — the articles are an historical record and should be left alone for future readers to discover and decide for themselves if the content is worthwhile. Not only that,…
About 12 years ago I think, I went to my Mom’s house for a Thanksgiving. In the evening we had the TV on low while we were chatting with some other family members. I see my Mom’s brow furrow as she’s looking at the TV, and she said “I know that young man”, and we looked up at the picture of someone on TV. “He was at…
This story belongs to my dear friend, we’ll call her Dee. We grew up in in the same tri-city area, but didn’t meet until our 20’s. She became my very best friend- and has remained so for 15+ years, even when we moved to opposite ends of the country.
This is my first time posting, and I apologize for the length. I have never physically written any of this down, so once I got started, it just poured out.
When I was 23, I traveled for the first time to Seattle with my mom, dad and 17 year old sister. We went to check out the university and do some generic sightseeing. This was back in the dark ages of AOL and dial up, so my mom used AAA to find and book a hotel in a rather random industrial neighborhood. I think she…
In the summer of 2008, my now husband Adam and I got engaged. Our relationship had been a bit of a whirlwind and in the week following our engagement, we went on a mini break with his extended family, who had come over from the States to the UK to stay in a big Air BnB type property; a period farmhouse in the…
When I was about 12 years old, my dad took my brother and me to Vegas for a weekend one summer for some inexplicable reason (male bonding?), even though I was too young (and already too gay) for strippers and couldn’t gamble. My brother was older, so he and my dad spent the day gambling at Caesar’s Palace (where we…
Just wanted to say that “He was a source of amusement to us kids and a source of heartache and headaches for my mother.” is a perfect sentence.
So I hope this doesn’t get buried but here goes anyway...
I love these every year and never had anything creepy happen to me spiritually. I’m pretty open about those things, I feel spirits sometimes, but they leave me alone.
WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE CREATES THE GHOST
Here is an experience that happened to me that still creeps me out. It happened a few years ago when I moved into my first “adult” home, a townhome that I was able to buy in a busy area of my neighborhood. The address ended in a 13 which my friends and new neighbors joked was a bad omen.
This is a totally true story. It’s odd so make of it, what you will.
My uncle was a paranoid schizophrenic and deeply disturbed. He was a minster when I was a child, but by the time I was in middle school he was off the reservation, so to speak. He had fantasies about marrying the Virgin Mary. He wouldn’t wear the color green because the Rolling Stones were using green to persecute…
This isn’t majorly scary, but it is completely true. When my sister and bro-in-law bought their house, there were a few creepy things about it. When they moved in we were surprised to find the tenants had left a bunch of ugly paintings hanging on the basement walls, only to discover they were hiding holes that looked…
A few months ago as I backed out of my driveway on my way to work, I glanced up at the front door of our house and saw what I can only describe as a thick black shroud hovering over the door. A clear thought popped into my head: “That’s Death.” I immediately told myself I was being silly, but I still whispered a…
