One underappreciated star to you.

Ditto. The first time I saw this ad, my immediate thought was “Torch needs to write a post that really lays into whatever dumbfuck wrote this.”
I’ve been a lifelong Sooner football fan, so my cognitive moral dissonance is waaay off the charts, but I still can’t wrap my head around why this guy is still on the team. Stoops kicks Bomar off the team when he held the starting QB position for taking a fake job at a car dealership, but keeps this guy on after he…
Um, isn’t that Randy Couture in that top picture?
Can confirm. My 2010 Jetta SportVaaaggen that has barely survived hauling around two miniature humans - among other things - will get me $19.5K. But I did pay it off... literally the day before news of dieselgate broke.
I’ve said it before (to other questions) but it still applies: Datsun 240z. No, it’s not American, and no, it’s not a convertible. But they’re boatloads of fun to drive, great looking, and easy to work on.
COTD?
I had a ‘71 24oz in orange (manual, of course) and I miss that car every day. Fun to drive, good looking, quick, and pretty easy to work on. But alas, I am stupid and no longer have it.
Huh. I just assumed that Anderson Cooper was deeply embedded with USA Swimming.
I owned one of these (mine was red) and loved it, but I would never pay over $6K for this car.
Yes! I, too, am glad that all the jingoistic bullshit around the games is limited to Mother Russia.
The whole caper was CGI’d?
I know you guys ran this before, but now that we (finally) have an idea about the compensation, we need a refresh. Something along the lines of:
And only one cup holder. I’m out.
Let me offer yet another hearty congrats to your new addition.
NP - Would hoon like an angry spouse away from press corps.
Maybe, and I’ve certainly considered that. But everything else about him was consistent - location, work history, expertise, etc. If it was a lie, it was an extremely well crafted and extensive one.
Given that I’m in the grays, this is probably a total waste of time, but here goes. About six years ago I was at a business dinner where we had a bunch of public officials mixed with industry folks. I was chatting with the guy across from me - a public official - and I asked him what he was doing before his current…
Lutz - is that you?
True, and I’ve always been a little surprised that HEVs are about equal with EVs in terms of emissions for most of the country. My plan has been to wait for more of a switch to renewables or natural gas, then go for an electric. In the meantime, I’ve been driving a ‘10 Jetta Sportwagen TDI.
