I hope that, in true Hedbergian fashion, the new material will be exactly the same as the old material, only with all the old words taken out and replaced with new ones.

This is cool, I’m psyched for this.
So true, he basically invented Twitter-style jokes.
He was the first comedian that I can remember actively following and seeking out his material. I loved his donut bit. A terrible loss to the world. If he could have remained healthy, I have little doubt he would’ve flourished in the current media climate.
This is the best news I’ve heard all day. Guy was great.
This will be a welcomed gift.
“I find that ducks’ opinion of me is very much influenced by whether or not I have bread.”
This is pretty awesome, I am only up to season 3 and wasn’t sure if I could make it through all 8 by the 16th.
Once again Domino’s stands up when the Government falls down. I, for one, am enjoying our new Pizzocracy, and remind them that pineapple on pizza is delicious.
He pretty much curated my trip to Colombia last year. I wouldn’t have seen the things I saw, drank the things I drank, ate the meals I ate, and met the people I met without his guidance. He opened the eyes to so many people to share the collective triumphs and struggles of humanity. Such a bummer.
I don’t have a particular moment that especially sticks out. Certain early episodes of No Reservations will always remain, the Rome episode (black and white) and Montana are all-timers. Also, he managed to give the best interview of Barack Obama during the entirety of his presidency.
It’s silly, but I’ll always remember the story he told about a job interview he totally bombed for an executive chef position because the restaurant owner asked, “What do you know about me?” and he decided to be honest and admit that he knew absolutely nothing rather than risk getting caught out in false flattery.
My favorite thing about Bourdain is that there’s so much tape on him. Go back and watch A Cook’s Tour - the dude is brasher, ruder, less open minded, etc.
When I met him in MI and he signed a coaster from Mac’s Deuce Club (his favorite dive bar, located in Miami) for me. He was such a gracious, genuine person. I’ll keep that coaster for the rest of my life. Rest easy, Tony.
If you’re thinking about suicide, are worried about a friend or loved one, or would like emotional support, the Lifeline network is available 24/7 across the United States.
This is such distressing, awful news. My whole family loved Anthony Bourdain. He truly changed the way we thought about food. This is just terribly sad.
Dry beans in a slow cooker may not get hot enough to destroy the phytotoxin phytohaemagglutinin. To be safe, first bring your soaked dry beans to a boil for 10-20 minutes on the stove, them put them in the slow cooker.
My British friends are under the impression that they eat baked beans.
I grew up with a French Canadian grandmother who made the “Fèves au lard” the recipe was fairly similar except she use navy beans, powdered mustard seed instead of mustard, tomato paste instead of Ketchup, no onion or garlic powder and no cloves and maple syrup. I used her recipe but decide to cook it on my Kamado…
I will be giving this a go this weekend!
