So it’s ok for you to pay the big guys and not the average Joe who puts some useful/enjoyable content on YouTube

I think it’s unethical to use a service (from a big company or small is irrelevant) and not be willing to pay for it even if you see value in it. Nobody is forcing you to use Google services if you find it offensive that they make money.
