season 1 of Angel never quite worked for me: the writing and action never seemed as strong as on Buffy.

I think Mr Handlen is waay more down on this show than he needs to be. He writes so often about his frustration with the show, you get the impression he's sitting at home shouting at the tv set and having fits.

for all the claims about it not being very well thought out or best enjoyed with drool or whatever, it is a consistently funnier and cleverer show than Chuck, a show which the AV Club seems to fall over itself to applaud.

Sorry, but anyone who thinks any of the songs this season have been on par with 'Business Time' is on crack, and not the good kind either.
