I’m genuinely baffled as to how Nissan (and so many other automakers) can’t figure out how to build a small, affordable RWD car profitably.

nissan wouldn’t know how to make a fun sporty car if mazda gave them the plans for it.

I hope I’m not in the minority when I say this:

Both of those were basically Miata clones. The IDx was a RWD hot hatch. Very different vehicles.

Make it a compact sedan, then we’ll talk. That’s why I ended up with an off-lease BMW.

Take that engine and transmission, stick it in the Note and add the NISMO kit. I MIGHT be okay with this.

They did, but then refused to give it a powertrain worthy of the chassis. 50 more lb-ft and it'd be amazing.
