Instead of a hilariously paranoid conspiracy, consider maybe that they just aren’t Democrats by any stretch of the mind, and they recognize that America is trapped within a two-party governing system. They know that the Democratic Party is their best vehicle for power, despite not supporting it in its current state.

A lot of conservatives are all over this Jussie Smollett case crying double standards (citing Rosanne). Well assholes, where is your outrage over the U.S. Coast Guard?

They also hate that she’s pretty because as misogynists, they can’t use her appearance to tear her down. More than one of those predatory assholes has described her as fuckable if not for the socialism. Such a compliment!

Me: I’m voting for Hillary!

Maybe you just need to talk to more people outside of your own bubble?

Well, because despite his manifold faults, he’s the only candidate who represents something even tangentially related to the left? I don’t particularly care for Bernie, and would rather someone younger/less clumsy, but depressingly enough, there’s still no one else offering an actual, systemic critique of capitalism

Wow, just casually calling AOC a Russian patsy. Thats... disturbing. You’re right, the policies that pass for radical-left in American mainstream dialogue is simply status quo in Western Europe. So why are you trying to deligitimize them?

A “nefarious agenda”?? Like... what? Healthcare for all? What is it you want someone to uncover? This paranoid consipiracy thinking is a disservice to us all.

Not in the primary, which is still a year out btw.

A nationwide program to employ the unemployed and return to domestic production of energy and food crops?!? Yeah, the midwest will HATE that.

I’m talking about the primary. When it comes to the general election, I’m not going to be stupid!

I don’t give a damn what you call yourself. I care about whether you’re actually going to fight for the things that matter. If you’re coming out of the gate immediately telling me the things you don’t intend on fighting for, my vote is going somewhere else.

These candidates really need to stop allowing the conservatives to define “Liberal” and “Socialism” as evils. As long as they keep letting Trump and his ilk control the conversation on these aspects of the left, they’re going to be stuck in this kind of awkward position where no one is particularly pleased with them.

This is a good take.

You hit the nail on the head! In 2016 and beyond, I have listened to Sanders, and waited for him to demonstrate that he has an in depth understanding of these issues. But all he does is repeat the same simple talking points over and over and over again. It’s not that those talking points are bad. But I feel like he

Indeed. Furthermore, to say that Black voters do not support progressive candidates south of the Mason Dixon line seems to ignore Gilliam and Abrams, who lost by literally squeakers AND in GA, seems to have lost because of shenanigans. It also ignores all the POC, particularly WOC elected to the House this past

I don’t even think he’s pandering to the white working class. He’s pandering to middle class liberals who just can’t figure out this mythical “white working class” and want someone other than them to reach them.

It’s so patronizing. It’s like white working class people are zoo animals and Bernie has convinced

And it is THIS that for Sanders is the stumbling block.

What difference does it make at all whether he calls himself a Democrat?

He’s a person who envisions the “working class” as dads on the factory line, not single moms who are waitresses. And it’s painfully obvious.
