I’ve been looking at the Intercept more often since the death of Splinter — haven’t really perused it for a few years and am a little appalled at how many serious right-wingers it appears to attract in its comment sections lately. When did that happen?!

Ha! I really hear you on the “off topic” sections of my hobby fora.

It’s lazy writing and it’s practically messianic in how Holden is approached. He is the Gary Stu of an entire cosmic race of superbeings that like him so much that they move to intervene to support him.

Oh, I laugh about it, that quiet kind of defeated “ah well what can you do” kind of laugh. Kinda-sorta can’t wait to see what she thought of the performances tonight; she adored Obama and finds Warren too “pushy” which always makes me (her college professor daughter) laugh again, in that way.

My 80+ centrist Democrat mother has never stopped mourning the loss of McCaskill. You laugh, but it’s definitely a demographic.

It was a false claim that she made again and again because it helped her occupy powerful positions in places of power.

lol! That’s about as fitting a farewell from Gawker Media as can be imagined, actually. Go in good health, may we meet again.

I like reading lawyersgunsmoney quite a lot and appreciate the cleverer commenters, but not sure I want to deal with the Disqus system.

Goddammit.

Oh, I’m sure they are regulars over at Jacobin or Taibbi’s twitter feed. *sigh*

I’ve been roving around trying to find a new home, myself. Used to be blackened on Jez but that was many iterations ago.

I suspect it’s either stunningly bad, i.e., that Turkey has some kind of revealing dirt showing Trump knew in advance of Khashoggi’s murder, or just stunningly sad, i.e., Trump just got rolled in the convo and was too weak to object.

Me too, most definitely. Also, they pulled the rug out the very night of the midterm elections, which was either a bizarre coincidence or just plain cruel to the community who really relied on online discussion with their long acquaintances here during that week.

I mean, my preference is a fresh slate entirely, but clearly in the given hierarchy of our justice system, someone with a long history will be chosen. T’will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

They’ll just be on to the next outrage committed by She Who Is Not Bernie.

Ha. Good luck with that. But she’s a capitalist! appears to be the unassailable goalpost du jour.

Four more: Justice “Rape Train” Kavenaugh, who did Starr’s dirty work

I’ve seen folks soberly agitate for Hillary Clinton as next Dem AG for similar Trump-head-’sploding reasons.

I have a fair bit of experience in East Germany, both personally and academically, and am always quite sceptical of accounts that praise the gender equality of non-capitalist (specifically socialist) systems.
