Well Theater is essentially the same. Retelling stories, adding different aspects, and trying to improve.

Someone once made the argument I enjoy that when you remake a movie it's no different than bards telling stories by the campfire a long time ago. Some are going to tell great, and a lot are going to tell it like shit, but the story gets to live on. At least we have the option to choose how we hear them.
