The A/C compressor is a known weak point that I’ve just been lucky enough not to have run into yet, and the trunk lid wiring recall is something that I’ve currently got my dealer waiting on parts for.

Dense urban living made a lot more sense before the pandemic. Now, nobody wants to be within 100 yards of another human being at any time for risk of disease transmission.
Here’s a complete list of all of the non-routine maintenance that I’ve had to do in almost 90k miles of driving my 435 hp 2015 Mustang GT:
One plus of high-performance Fords is that the engines are just normal engines turned up to 11, and so if you’re just driving them as normal cars they’re dead-reliable. I know somebody with 75k miles on a GT350 who’s had no engine troubles at all and no servicing outside of regular maintenance.
Literally was just going to type that that truffle interior looks like it’s already 25 years old.
This is a fancy Ford Escape. It’s not that big.
I mean, for example:
I think it’s pretty clear that this is somebody with severe, severe mental health issues who needs to be in a mental institution and needs to be medicated full time... and probably shouldn’t be allowed to leave for, uh, decades. I don’t really see prison as the right place for somebody who’s clearly just completely…
A lot of extremely-well-designed Shelby Cobra replicas can be purchased without an engine or transmission for five figures, for the purpose of getting them registered as kit cars. But those are specifically designed to be everyting-but-the-drivetrain deliveries. I want to say somebody in... South Africa?... does the…
If you couldn't afford the Concorde, you won't be able to afford whatever the next generation is.
My wife drives a 2018 Lexus RX 350, fully loaded, that I bought off a lease for a song. It’s a wildly comfortable car, and while it’s not at all sporty, it has sufficient power and is overhwelmingly comfortable driving two toddlers to visit my in-laws and getting stuck in 3 hours of traffic on the way. If you want a…
Or, the fact that a 5.0 gets like 16mpg on a good day.
As the owner of a 2015 GT — before they adjusted the exhaust — I can tell you that it’s virtually silent under any conditions except redline and that’s really my only disappointment with the car. It basically sounds like a Camry most of the time. Still a great car though!
Real wood trim on the dash / center console / doors. None of this fake wood veneer nonsense.
Kind of stunning they were open at all this season with the Omicron wave we’ve had all summer.
I remember a few years ago some exec at Bentley saying that they planned to be the last manufacturer still making 12 cylinder engines... I think they anticipated that lasting a lot longer than it did.
Right, but since the beginning of when consumer goods started using rechargeable lithium ion batteries in the early 90's, the message has always been “if you’re going to recharge it, never recharge it to less than 100% because that will degrade battery life,” and to periodically run the battery down to zero before…
I’m not a Boomer -- depending on the precise definition I’m either Gen X or Millennial -- but I can’t really wrap my head around this concept of charging either. Think of it like a cell phone -- I’d never charge up my cell phone to 90% and then take it off the charger. I’m charging it up to 100% even if it means I…
That’s really not true at all. I would love to have an electric car; it does not suit my use case at the moment. My commute to work is 100 miles each day, round trip (50 miles each way). My house was built in 1960 and I would need to spend at least $10k upgrading the electrical service to the house plus adding a new…
Given just how basic entry level cars were in the 20's — basically a cart with an engine and a couple of lawn chairs — this all seems pretty reasonable.
