Hello all! I'm looking for a bike. I don't want a clunky mountain bike but I also don't want something super light. I live in a city so I need something that can withstand city roads but that still looks cute. I plan on riding mainly for recreation and for exercising my dog (any tips on riding with a dog would be

Thanks. After all the positive responses on this thread I think I'll try my hand at canning.

What a helpful reply! Thank you so much. If you don't mind, can you PM me those recipes? It's well past tomato season but I'll save those recipes and try them next year.

I think it's because I learned about botulism before I learned about home canning. Maybe I'll start off with pickles, that sounds nice and safe.

Does refrigeration kill the botulism? Not sure why I'm fixated on botulism but it's what pops to mind whenever I think of canning.

Haha, so you know lots of people who can successfully (I assume, right?) yet you don't do it yourself. I'll take that ringing endorsement ;-P.

Hello all! Any canners out there? I've wanted to get into canning jam, fruits and jellies for a while now but I'm kind of afraid. The fear of botulism keeps me away. The weird thing is that I'm very much a DIY person in the kitchen. I cook and bake from scratch all the time. I'm an adventurous cook and I frequently

I used to say I never wanted an e-reader but then I got a Nook for my birthday and I love it. It's so convenient for travel. Also, I use my Nook as a tablet. I watch Netflix, read my Google Reader feed, browse the internet, all sorts of stuff. I still love physical books and I will buy a really cool looking book, but

That sounds delicious! What's the ratio of cider to champagne?

I really like that show, it's Ah-mah-zing. Are you a little freaked out at how much that Waynes kid looks like his dad? He's like a clone!

See the post right above yours.

That's so exciting! Congrats to you. How long are you staying? Are they putting you up in a fancy hotel?

I'm usually pretty adventurous in the kitchen but canning is the one thing I just can't get into. It's such a shame because at the farmer's market by my house they have amazing produce at dirt cheap prices at the end of summer and I want to buy it all and preserve it for the winter. But something about the sanitizing

If you live in the US, try Bed Bath and Beyond. They have a bunch of different containers and you can buy them individually so you only get the sizes you want.

How long did it take before they destroyed each Kong? Also, doesn't it look like a giant butt plug to you?

What kind of puppy do you have? Mine hasn't been too aggressive with the Kong and usually once he gets the peanut butter and snacks out he leaves it alone. He rarely chews on it when there no food inside.

Haha, "is it allergies or am I dying." I love that, it's exactly how I've been feeling. I kind of wish it was a cold, at least then I'd have an idea of when it would clear up. With my allergies, I never know what's going to set me off, when and how long I'll be sick. I've been tested and I know what I'm allergic to

I keep the dog food/treats in the pantry with some of my food stuff. Every time I open that door, the dog runs up to me tail wagging, smile on his face. When he realizes I'm not getting something for him he slinks away looking so sad. It's kind of funny. He gets the same way about plastic bags being opened. Zip lock

I have the squeeze bottle version. I'm using it and it definitely helps. It's pretty gross to see the clumps coming out of my nose, but at least they're clear clumps and not yellow and green.
