Actually 20k is low end. I have sold dresses for 30k and up. Yes, they do make a profit. It is the fashion shows that cost 1 million and having a ready-to-wear line that is too expensive/doesn't fit/looks ugly that makes them broke. The perfume, make-up and handbags keep the whole machine afloat, actually.

No matter your body type, if you can afford to buy Haute Couture, they will make it to fit your body. That's part of why it's so expensive for one dress.
