I wish I could find that tweet again that basically said, “let’s not lament all the famous fuckwads whose careers are now ruined because they couldn’t keep their dicks to themselves. Let’s lament the art that never got created because the people who wanted to make it got silenced by these fuckers. They had their shot,

Yep. Happened where I grew up in the UK. Our headteacher had been sleeping with 14 year old girls in his original job at a secondary school so the school authorities (Catholic School) moved him to the local primary school and hushed it up. I think the “logic” went something like “he won’t be tempted by younger

CK, can you explain what good you can do? If not I think you should stay silent.

There’s just so little empathy for victims. It’s all about circling the wagons, focusing on the inconveniences to perpetrators (which makes no sense whatsoever), and enabling individuals and society as a whole to get away with sex crimes. I can’t adequately articulate the feelings of grief and betrayal when someone

Not to hijack the “discussion” here but holy shit have the AV Club comments declined in quality since the Kinja conversion. The fuck did these people wander in from because they sure as hell weren’t on here when we were making fun of that Laurel Canyon Sound.

The thing that personally depresses me more than the inevitable people who abuse the power they get are the masses of people who will defend them for whatever reason and also the people who know what is going on but turn a blind eye or clsoe ranks to protect their own power.

Fuck you CK,you pathetic misogynistic piece of shit.

I’d bet a lot of the people clapping for him were plants.

I wonder how many people in that club clapping for him were people he brought himself.

It seems like you could make the same argument to excuse anything a business owner did that threatened the health or well-being of his/her workers, as long as consumers didn’t know or didn’t care about it. I tend to think that a business owes its employees, freelancers, etc. a certain standard of safety, respect, and

The complication there is that Louis CK’s violations were directed at other comics, not audience members, so it seems odd for the acceptance of the audience to be the only deciding factor. I mean, if you ran an office where your star salesman was always showing his penis to coworkers in the elevator, would you keep

Fuck Louis CK. And the horse he unexpectedly rode in on.

Is there a path to redemption without actions that merit redemption? How many women has he apologized to directly, or by name? How much time, money or effort has he pledged or dedicated to victims of workplace harassment or legislative efforts to combat same?

Small point: The NYT article does not state that CK received a “standing ovation”.  Maybe he did, but the article only says “ovation”.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (just consider me doing this in absentia from the club).

More than 10 months isn’t forever.

As soon as I saw his face and went ‘Yuck’, I knew that it was too soon. Give it another year, or two.

Tragedy + time = same criminal

Karmel is the best! He’s spot on about this. And y’all should all listen to All Fantasy Everything.
